The trusty sideboard – a fabulously useful piece of furniture not only for what it holds (& hides) within and for what it can display on top but it can also really frame a room and many of our clients can’t live without theirs.

Banish the brown….

Antique, vintage, reproductions, these great sturdy pieces of furniture are designed to store lots while being fairly shallow in order to not take up too much room. This beautiful piece was too dominating for this hallway; our client didn’t want to take the attention away from the stunning parquet flooring – they felt there was just too much wood going on.

We wanted to celebrate the age of the piece so we painted the exterior with a beautiful creamy grey chalk paint and distressed it a little to highlight its best features. It was finished with a clear wax to provide adequate protection while keeping that wonderfully aged feel. The top was sanded back and given a smart limed effect in a colour similar to the flooring.
